Protective Industrial Products box just arrived. These guys have some cool safety products that kayak anglers can use. They sent the Brownlee Crappie Shootout (1) AT290 e-flare and (1)TF250 e-flare. Both are water proof. The 250 has flash or flashlight settings and the 290 has flash or steady on settings. Thanks Reid. Visit www.pipglobal.com to see their full line of safety gear.-jed

These are bad ass!  Way better than actual flares.

Hi iairj84, it depends on what you are looking for. Spring cg is right on Brownlee and is where I'll be camping. Farewell Bend State Park is also on the Snake about 8 miles away and is pretty well set up. If you are looking for more wooded camping then try around Baker and La Grande. Phillips Res. near Baker is nice, they put tiger musky in there to thin out the stunted perch. Eagle Creek near Richland is beautiful. Wallowa lake, Unity res., Powder river.-jed

Awesome! I will have to convince the wife. We have friends coming into town the following Wednesday for a week so it may be a tough sell.

Sign in/out will be at or near Spring camp area. I'll make my self visible with flags or some sort of indicators. I will be camped at Spring cg from about Thursday. Cell service is okay through there. The awards ceremony and crappie fry will be at Lee Stevenson Lions Park in the town of Huntington, about 4 miles from the reservoir. I should have food covered, but if anyone wants to bring stuff that would be great. I am trying to secure some local brews for sampling.

I will be camping at Farewell Bend SP. I plan on arriving late Thursday so I can scout a bit on Friday. My wife is really itching to go camping, so she is coming along and probably will be bringing my 4yr old granddaughter as well. That will cut into my fishing, but I am waaaay more a social tournament fisherman than a competitor, and I love grandpa duty. Anyway, I will be at spot C111 if you care to stop by.

Phillips Res. near Baker is nice, they put tiger musky in there to thin out the stunted perch. Eagle

they netted a 30" a couple weeks ago.  They were only 6" when put in 2yrs ago  :banjo:

I'm not sure where I'll be staying yet.  It all depends on the water levels.....

We had a really good snow pack this year in Idaho.  Most of the Snake river tributaries are running above capacity and our reservoirs are either filled or nearly filled. The Boise which enters the Snake just south of the reservoir is running in flood conditions, and the Payette (also entering the Snake near the reservoir) is running high as well.  Should be plenty of water.
