I'm officially out. Kids came home with the plague and now I've got it.  I did, however, manage to get that third kayak spot built on the trailer.  Lol

That's a bummer, Akfishin. I'm just getting over my own bout of plague. I should be well enough by Saturday, but these late nights for work and kayak rigging haven't been helping.

I was lucky enough to get a room at lands end so I won't have to travel too far to launch.

I thought about using that, and probably will in the future. I ordered some Red Beards Herring Brine in the anise, bloody tuna from the Konezone website when I ordered a few of their flashers. We'll see how it works.

I'll be leaving Friday at daylight. try and fish a few hours Friday but just to get the bugs worked out. I have a few modifications I need to make on my kids kayak like installing a fish finder for him.

I am heading down late evening or early morning with a nap some where in between. I hope to fish enough on Friday to fine tune my gear. Who is selling herring in Anchorage?

I got red label herring in decent shape at Walmart at Dimond and Old Seward Hwy.  Got 'em brining in the hotel room minifridge right now.

I'll be driving down to Homer from Soldotna nice and early on Saturday morning.  I will probably join the truck hobo encampment Saturday night if I'm feeling good about fishing on Sunday.

Cabbalas has good herring at 9.99.  West marine had decent stuff at 7bucks a pack.  walmart is typical as cheap as West marine.

Thanks Guys, I may not even need herring as I have this super secret lure that I am going to try first.

When I catch the winner I'll let everyone know what caught it.

No, I can never keep my mouth shut... I am going to try some of those New Zealand Tazzie lures. I have rigged up a couple the size of the Coho Killer. I do have several sizes I want to try. I am also going to try some of those Brad's Cut Plugs with the scent chamber.

I think anything could work, you just have to wave it under their noses and keep your line in the water as much as possible.

Just went through Soldotna and the roads are great.  Made it in 2 hours and 15 minutes.

There's tons of good green label at Fred Meyers in Eagle River FYI
