I am guessing 4 wheel drive is required.  And it is okay to leave your car on the beach the whole time you are out?

Use your best judgement. If your vehicle has some decent ground clearance and the ramp (it's sand) is in good shape you can generally make it. Just stay on the packed sand (not the loose dry stuff or the wet sand). I have 2WD and have gotten stuck a few times. There are generally friendly people around with shovels but I now carry a tow strap. Going up or down the ramp is usually the biggest issue.

I will be using my dad's Toyota Tacoma but am not sure if it has 4 wheel drive.  If it looks sketchy I will just put the kayak on the wheels and drag it down there

The sand is mostly packed so you should be fine on the beach, just avoid the soft stuff. 4wd no problem.

And someone on this thread (not me) caught a ginormous ling today... I'll let him speak up...

Just get a running start! I used to take my GTI onto the beach and it was usually fine.

nice to hear some one scored a big ling. i also hooked something ginormus today just north of the rock. it was either a halibut or perhaps a skate, i could make no progress and it towed me around for awhile so i finally gave it slack and it came off. on thursday afternoon i had a whale surface 200 ft away from me, it was between the beach and the rock, man what a show out there. scored limits of blacks a ling and 3 large cabezon that were released. btw, i overheard a kayaker in the distance saying he got 2 cabbies and kept the big one. no bueno. no retention until july.

I talked to that kayaker(not a member of NWKA) shortly after he kept that cabby.  He had it in his livewell and he released it after I told him they were closed until July.

Today I saw some nice yellow eye, canary and copper rockfish.  I have never seen any of those while fishing PC before.  Good reminder to review the regs before going out to fish the salt.

The two best times to fish is when it’s raining and when it ain’t. -Patrick McManus

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Chris and I will be at Depoe bay between 6-7 if it looks good and not a cluster-pluck of butt hunters, if no launch there then PC then Tillamook Bay. In that order.

Chris and I meet dampainter at the Depoe Bay launch with a couple of his friends and rolled out and a little north parallel to the cliffs in 40-50 average depth we kept nailing lings the guys were throwing some smaller legal lings back but I was grocery shopping so if it was long enough I gave it the aluminum shampoo, had the TLW's fish bat as I loaned mine to Chris since it's a Woden bat that reads Alaska on the side. Rained a bit was choppy but not that big just small chop. Everyone limited on lings and Chris kept one black and I kept two large blacks. All together not a bid day.
