I would be happy to split a site with someone(s) ;D, A basic tent spot would be fine as I sleep in the back of my truck, just need a spot to park.

Most folks showing up Friday night I assume?  I could be convinced to provide a light Indian food (rice, dal and a curry) supper on Friday evening at my tent site for those that would be interested.

Note, Devil's Lake is just North of Depoe Bay about 12 miles, and you can fish for trout and such in the lake after some salt time.  Wifey says there are still sites with hookups and or just electric available.  My parents would like to go just for the camping, but they are not comfortable without hookups, and they are also in a small trailer so they can't take a tent site like we can in the truck camper.  We'll probably go ahead and grab a spot at Devils Lake SP, as well as a site for my folks.

Hopefully we won't need it, but if for some reason the ocean doesn't cooperate it would be nice to figure out some alternative venues nearby.

I wasn't suggesting Devils Lake SP for replacing the fishing grounds, but more along the lines of additional camping options due to all the electric sites being full at Beverly Beach.  Granted it looks like most folks here are sleeping on the ground or back of their vehicles, and only require tent spaces, so I may be alone up at Devils Lake SP (with my folks in site next to us).

We are in A12 at Devils Lake SP if anyone else happens to bunk there instead of Beverly Beach.

Oh, I don't want to replace ocean fishing with lake fishing, but I will certainly replace watching large waves break on the beach with some lake fishing if I have to.

There are some much better fishing lakes within 20min of Beverly Beach.  Will the event be called off if the Bar isn't doable or will we simply change the venue?

My preferences would be in the following order..

-launch of Beverly Beach if it's really flat..just because it's so close
-launch out of Depoe if it's not flat but the bar is doable
-look for another possible ocean launch nearby if the bar isn't doable
-fish a nearby lake..at least it's fishing
-call off the fishing and just have a camp gathering (potluck, gear swap, BS session, etc..)
-go home with our tails between our legs

Having a backup venue sounds like a good idea. I'm all for the ocean, but i'd 100% rather have a lake tournament instead of just calling the whole thing off.

We could totally change it up, most fish caught, ect....

Plan ZZZZZ .... sit in the harbor on our yaks jigging for the biggest herring.

Big Creek Reservoirs just outside of Newport would make a great backup.  I know that Fishsniffer is intimately familiar with this area.

As far as Beverley vs. Depot, I think we need to make sure that those who won't be camping at Bev Beach will know where to be on that morning.  I'd hate to see someone left out because they didn't get an update.

Why settle for herring when we could be catching perch/flounder?   ;D

Fair enough.. I don't know enough about the fishing potential between Beverly Beach and Depoe Bay.  My thought was that if the closer launch was possible that it might decrease dealing any hassles getting to and finding parking in Depoe Bay as well as any possible harbor traffic issues.

I'm sure we can come up with some sort of phone tree to determine the final location of the venue for those who aren't camping at Beverly Beach.

I don't think we are re-stricting where you can launch/fish, are we?.  We didn't last year ... although everyone decided to launch at the dory launch anyway.  I would say that if you choose to launch off the beaten path, that the buddy system is followed.

However please note, you must check in at the designated place (Bev Beach campsite A1).

I suppose there still might be a concern if we switch to a freshwater venue and people aren't aware of it.

We can always hit up that market where Spot got that nice slightly frozen but still fresh looking vermilion last year.  At least we'd have a fish fry. >:D
