Have you been picking up fish in the sled, Ron?
Yes, but its been on the slow side. Sunday one fish, Monday all day nothing.  Today, I fished closer to home and was done a bit before 10am both on sand shrimp.   Tomorrow, lower river out of the kayak.  Anyone else notice how small the fish are running this year, lots of peanuts..  Isn't declining average fish size a sign of seriously compromised fish populations?  Thought I remembered reading about something like that in college pertaining to northeast cod stocks.
I love that your "on the slow side" would be a personal best for me :) Thanks for the report!

I read an article earlier in the year they were predicting lots of larger, 5 year fish. I guess it goes to show how spot on those usually are.

Bennicus, you are very welcome to join us at Rocky Pt. on the MC at about 7 am tomorrow.  We have never fished here before but want to learn about some new water this year. If we succeed I will post a photo or two.

Sounds good.  I'll try to make it out by then, but in the off chance I don't catch you before you shove off do you have a radio I can call you on?  If so what channel will you be monitoring?  And to be clear you mean the Rocky Point marina, correct?

Still planning to be at Sellwood around 3 for a 2nd try at any fish missed in the MC unless I luck out and bag my limit early.

No salmon love for any of us at GR.  Sinker got a take down and  Craig and I each caught a mini shaker.

Not gonna make it out there this morning.  Daughter was up all night and i'm pooped.  Gonna get on the water after a morning snooze.  Good luck out there.

Definitely agree with Ron about the smaller size of springers from previous years. Also the eggs in the hens seem to be smaller than normal so hopefully the bulk of the run is still out in the ocean fattening themselves up and will show soon

I still have 1.5 months before any springers get close to me (2 hrs away).  I wish I had the gas money to head over there for a weekend.

There should be a good group of us launching from Sellwood at 3.
See you there.

A beautiful day on the water but no fish today for either John or me. Oh well, we will find them on another day.

We launched at Rocky Pt. and saw no fish taken today. They must have passed on through after a good number of were caught the day before

Sounds like a good bite on the Columbia today. I'm heading out tomorrow afternoon if anyone else is too. Not sure where yet.

I am interested.  But, I need to pass a fire inspection at 3:00.  I hid everything today so I should be ok. >:D  I hope Firebunker ain't reading this.:o   My only problem would be having to drive home south afterwards then to head back North to the Big C in Friday traffic. :P  Maybe I will drive my POV in with the yak tomorrow.

Noah and Sinker, I am sorry for making you guys watch me catch another fish.  I hope that one of these days I will have the honor of watching both of you land a nice salmon.

Thanks Nate. It wouldn't have been as bad if you had spent  more than 15 minutes fishing before getting your limit. I think there should be a rule that you can't use bait for at least an hour to give the rest of us a sporting chance :)

Craig, you're a day late! Get out there tomorrow though! I've got date night with the wife, I might try for Saturday early.
