Fished Sellwood Tuesday saw nothing and caught nothing.  Fished Swan Island Wednesday saw one caught, none for me.  Hit St. Johns today saw a bunch jumping and several netted but again no love for me.  Gonna go again tomorrow not sure where.  Maybe do Ross Island to Fremont bridge area.

Stick with it Bennicus!  It'll pay off.

My I suggest that after you've sampled all the fishin holes, you pick one and learn it inside and out.  It will really up both your confidence and catch rate.

I think we will give it a try tomorrow near Fred's. Seems like fish are in the area, we just need to find them. This has been a tough year so far!

I'll be on the water from about 6:00 to 11:00 tomorrow. Probably either Cathedral Park, Willamette Park, or George Rogers depending on the afternoon reports.

Sinker and I are heading to Cathedral Park at 2 this afternoon.  I have never fished there, but I am getting bored with Sellwood.

At Cathedral do you sit on anchor or are you trolling?  Just curious, haven't quite finished my anchor setup but have been thinking that'd be a good spot to try for my first attepmt at springers

I think it is a trolling spot, and I am not bringing my anchor.

Spent from 6:30am to 3:00 in the afternoon trolling at the top of the MC. My GPS tells me we paddled 13 miles today on the quest for the wiley Springer. Not so much as a bump from a springer!  This dry spell is so long now I am reluctant to even talk about it! Last year the fish came somewhat easy and this year we can't seem to even get a bite!  Some of the other fishermen are telling me they are late and the season hasn't really gotten started. I hope this is true so I can regain some of my pride with a few fish before it is over.  A few folks caught fish but I personally only watched one fish get landed all day.

I hope others fellow cayakers are finding a few fish. I will try it again in a week or so.

I picked one up at about 6:40.  Besides that I only saw one other net and one fish when we were launching.  This fish put up a very spirited fight and at one point launched clear out of the water.  She only stopped going up when the weight was at the surface.

Overall this season has been pretty slow but the fish are there and getting bigger.  Really it just takes time on the water and and getting lucky.

Nate way to go on another springer!
Nate how many springers for you this year?

I hit the water about 7 AM @ GR Park. I was fishing with Dale (Deluxeharley) No fish for us.
This was the third time out for my trying to catch a springer.

I trolled herring behind a flasher from Oregon City down to Sellwood Pk. yesterday. Didn't see that many caught, except as I was quickly paddling past the combat fishery at OC. I hooked one right north of Elk Rock Island while I was paddling downstream into a massive headwind. It was my first salmon from the yak and the netting process I botched severely. The lead got twisted in the net on the first attempt which caused my leader to snap. I wanted to roll myself headfirst into the river. Anyway if I can hook one on my second try without sonar or any common sense, I think anyone can. Actually netting one would really be a bonus.
