Lol each to there own I guess. I have goals to achieve and these goals do not come with out risk. And to reach my goals I need to be prepared.

Very cute. I think I asked Santa for the wrong thing this year. If Romanian Redneck keeps it up with the long days on the water I might have to get me one. Gettin kinda lonely around here.

The problem is you aren't trying to archive goals ... you are trying to spend the most money possible to do something pretty simple. Catching big sturgeon isn't all that hard doing it from a kayak is definitely harder but it has already been done on the Frasier.

What you have built is Lamborghini engine on a Honda civic chassis that you want to take to the infield car show and then cruise to the burger join at 5 mph with the rest of your Honda buddies.

Will it do all those things? Yes! But so would a 84 CRX. It is just that an old CRX doesn't give you much to talk about even though it would probably work better for going to the burger joint.

So have fun with your lambo civic and when you spin out and crash I will say I told you so.

Get a Penn 330 on an ugly stick fill it with 50 braid and have fun.

You have asked for advice. We have tried to give it to you but you don't want to hear any of our advice unless we are telling you his bad ass you are....

BTW ... when asked about techniques and all respond with is "I use different things at different times in different places" you are kinda setting yourself up to get picked on....

Bill,

Even you don't use a Penn 330 and an ugly stick, do you?  Why is that?

Me?  Because I can use something better.  Because I enjoy using something better.  Because there is nothing wrong with using something better.  Whatever the reason, it doesn't so much matter.  It's a personal choice to do so.  To each their own.

How much fun would life be if we all drove 84 CRX's?

The CRX is one of the greatest cars ever made in the 80s.

I am totally in support of nice and unnecessarily nice gear. But I also don't lie to myself and say it is necessary to have 450 yards of 100 pound braid and 20 pounds of drag from a kayak.

I'm not too proud to listen to the advice of others that have done different types of fishing.

Those are just a few differences....

I also understand that for the most part the kayak fishing community is a pretty frugal bunch. We generally try to make the most of the gear we have and keep expenses low.

Asking which 400 dollar reel will go best with my 500 dollar rod will not bring you closer to most members here.

Hell you gave me a hard time for using a rod I bought on clearance for 130 bucks! :D

I think I gave you a hard time for both the rod and the reel.   ;D  Nice rod and reel BTW.

That reel is the nicest piece of fishing gear I own! At $250 bucks it was almost half the cost of my kayak and more expensive than my dry suit!
I also recognize that is way over kill and I have the drag at nearly the lightest setting.

They still have a couple of those rods on clearance too :D
If it wasn't for the fact that my rod storage is just about maxed out I would be temped to pick up a back up.

;D love it!

Though nothing beats out fishing the power boats from a kayak! Regardless of your gear.
