Fee?  How much is that gonna run me?  I just spent 30 minutes searching the ODFW site again and there is no mention of said quiz.

Just be thankfull that you can borrow an invasive species permit and don't have to take the invasives test yourself.  The test cost as much as the permit and they want to inspect your kayaks kanuter valve and your paddles thompson strut to ensure they're up to code.  What a pain in the arse!

At least you don't have to pay the seawater agitation fee from having a Mirage Drive.  ;)
See ya on the water..

I'll give them the kanuter valve inspection,  but the thompson strut.  No way man!

There's nothing worse than Kanuter Valve leakage..  Once that shit gets in the water is "everyone out of the pool".

Couple questions...

Is there an *easy* way to tell a vermillion rockfish from a canary?  It appears canary is protected and vermillion is not.  They yelloweye seems like it would be easy, due to it's name.

Can somebody clarify this invasive species permit for me?  Do I need (I assume so) and how/where do I get it?

Thanks,
Rory

Funny... you guys seriously had me going.  See what living in Washington does to you!  We'll believe in the most rediculous fishing regulations.

The easy way to tell is to run your finger along the bottom of its jaw (on the outside).  A Vermillion will have a jaw line that feels like sandpaper.
There are some physical differences too.  I believe that they're described well in the Oregon Fishing Regs.

If your yak is over 10' long, you will need an invasive species permit.  You can borrow one from anyone who has an extra.  I've already set my 2 extras aside for Lee and Yarjammer.

Anybody have an extra Oregon invasive species permit that Rory can borrow?

Thanks Mark.  I'm happy to buy an invasive species permit as well.  I'm going to get a full fishing license in the hopes to come fishing in OR more often.  Are the permits sold the same places as fishing licenses?  If so, Chinook Bend should be a one-stop-shop.

Yes, places that are able to print you a fishing license can print that one as well.

Also, another way to tell the difference between vermillion and yellow eye is that the yellow eye also have a couple of rows of ridges above their eyes(their "eyebrows" if you will), vermillion do not.

How about an unofficial swap meet on Friday or Saturday evening? I remember a bit of gear and cash changing hands last year...

Mr. Header mentioned something about a swap meet. Is anybody bringing gear they're not using to deal. I have a new Penn 9m reel LH, a Bare Supra Arctic Full wetsuit (5' 10" - 6' 0" - 165 to 180lbs) , scuba tanks, and an extra game clip if anybody gives 2 squirts.

Seems we still need to solidify cooking setups for Friday and Saturday nights

Who can bring something to cook burgers on Friday night or something for frying fish Saturday night?

LingBanger, I know you said your setup might not be in the best shape, but it may have to do at this point. Can you still bring it?
Who was it that brought the frying setup last year and if you're coming, is there any way you can bring it this year? Puh-puh-puh-LEEEAAASE?!?!  :sad5:  That seemed to work very nicely.

The campground doesn't have a charcoal pit or something in the group area?

Edit:  I called, they have a grilling spot in the group camp area, so cooking the burgers is covered.

Hey, I could use a game clip.
My list is short but I may be able to come up with some more by Saturday:  Scotty gimbal mount

My plans have changed dramatically. I wont be camping and am only about 75% sure i can even make it.  :(

If i do make it i am gonna just drive up Saturday crack o dawn, fish, feast, fun, load up my new Kayak and head home Saturday night.  ;)

I will be bringing some eats for Saturday night but might need a burner to heat it up. My camp stove got pilfered at last years ORC and i haven't replaced it yet. Does someone have an extra burner i could use to heat my stew up?

Hope to see ya all there Sat.
See ya on the water..
Roy

Yo guys. I work for a broadline food distributor here in PDX and could get a killer deal on a case of Natural 2/1 Ground Chuck burger patties, buns, tillamook cheese... whatever we want if you guys want to pitch in some $. I could get it all at cost. Maybe do it Friday night? Does anyone like cheeseburgers? :laughing8:

HELP.. I'm still looking for a grill to fire up these cheeseburgers Friday night. Can anyone help me out? I'd bring mine, but its way to big to move. ANYONE?

Roy you can use my burner to warm stuff up.

Pilfered eh?  I'll keep a close eye on my stuff then.

Jammer, they have a grill in the group campsite.  I'll also bring my folding grill which works great with some charcoal.  I'm sure the more grills the merrier though!
